Making your own toffee apples is easy if you follow our steps. They look really pretty wrapped up as little gifts, too.

• Mix the ingredients together, stir to dissolve the sugar
• Boil for 5-6 minutes
• Drip a little into cold water; if it forms hard, brittle threads, it's ready
• Add butter off the heat
• Dip the apples in the toffee and place on an oiled plate
