If you haven’t discovered Substack yet, but love a good read about food and drink, then head over and subscribe to one of our favourite food-loving newsletters. You not only get great content but can engage with likeminded folk on the message boards linked to your chosen subscription.

1. Best for women (and everyone else) who love wine

@ladysips

Mel Leyshon is a former magazine editor who has spent the last few years studying for her wine qualifications. She is now WSET 3 qualified an Italian Wine Scholar (Honours) and continuing her student journey. Her newsletter charts her progress as well as recommending unusual and off-the-beaten track bottles to try.

2. Best for brilliant bakes

@sweetthings

You may remember Benjamina Ebuehi as a 2016 Great British Bake Off quarter-finalist and since then she’s been wowing the Sainsbury’s magazine food team with her innovative baking recipes that balance the traditional with the new, especially when it comes to flavour.

3. Best for recipes you want to eat right now

@feeder

Big bowls and platters of tempting, luscious food for friends are a speciality of Sophie Wyburd and are hugely inspiring for casual dinner-party throwers. Think seafood ragu, kidney bean and walnut stew, and keema cottage pie.

4. Best for travelling foodies

@jeffreymerrihue

Founder of Xtreme Foodies, Jeffrey’s Substack is a collation of reports from around the world on what to eat where. The best restaurants (not usually the most expensive), local specialities, food markets explored and more make this a must-visit for the gourmet on the go.

5. Best for seasonal deliciousness

@ottolenghi

Yotam Ottolenghi needs no introduction for those who love tucking into his Middle Eastern recipes. These have introduced us to  wonderful ingredients such as ras al hanout and pomegranate molasses, and his Substack is no different. Mouthwatering meal ideas, fabulous food writing, and lots of behind the scenes action from the test kitchen.

6. Best for baking nerds

@kitchenprojects

Described as her ‘love letter to food’ this is where London-based recipe developer Nicola Lamb shows us mere mortals how and why recipes do (and don’t work), pro-kitchen secrets and plenty of fabulous facts about the food we love to eat.
